Rapaport has rolled out new technology and rebranded its core trading platform as Rapaport Trade, aiming to help retail jewelers secure more revenue. The company, led by CEO Dan Mano, folded its Diamond Price List, News, Intelligence, and Auctions into a single connected ecosystem. This shift follows a year of investment in technology infrastructure and market intelligence, aligning with Mano’s strategy to support retailers who rely on the service to price and source natural diamonds.
Mano is a 20-year technology veteran who previously served as Chief Revenue Officer at MyHeritage, a company acquired for $600 million. He helped grow Perion Network to a $1.9 billion valuation before joining Rapaport. The new platform consolidates the functions of RapNet, now called Rapaport Trade, into a single interface. The system allows users to browse inventory, communicate, document transactions, and handle payments in one place. This integration aims to reduce the time retailers spend bouncing between different tools, such as price checks, phone calls, and fulfillment processes, so they can focus more on store operations.
Practical Tools for Retailers
Rapaport has introduced a free Matched Set Diamond Calculator to assist jewelers with complex orders. The tool helps retailers estimate how many diamonds fit around a specific finger size or calculate the total carat weight for eternity bands and necklaces. Users input the size, shape, and setting style to receive a real-time layout, stone count, and a safe ordering range. This addresses a common problem where retailers previously had to call suppliers or wait for CAD files to determine specifications.
Retail jewelers building an eternity band, a tennis bracelet, or a diamond necklace constantly ask themselves: how many diamonds fit around a size 8 finger, or what’s the total carat weight for a full eternity band in ovals? The calculator provides a layout that visualizes the final product, helping both the seller and the buyer understand the design before production begins. For retailers operating on thin margins, these small tools can have a direct impact on sales. A jeweler can quickly provide a client or supplier with accurate specifications during a conversation, avoiding delays and errors that might otherwise cost the sale.
Rapaport has also announced an AI agent designed specifically for the diamond trade. This tool connects to live trading data, the Rapaport Diamond Price List, and how customers search and buy on the platform. The system analyzes what 20,000 dealers across 103 countries are searching for and what parcels are moving. For a retailer, this offers access to real-time market data rather than general information. General models like ChatGPT and Claude have learned from public data but lack the trade-specific information that determines current pricing and demand.
Rapaport Trade serves as the central hub for this ecosystem, alongside Rapaport Auctions and the Diamond Price List.
Commitment to Natural Diamonds
Dan Mano stated that the company will not endorse manufactured alternatives. He expressed concern that synthetic diamonds often sell for less than $100 per carat. He noted that a mined diamond formed over billions of years carries a story that synthetic stones cannot replicate. The company will not put its four decades of integrity at risk. Rapaport asks for clear disclosure when suppliers or retailers carry lab-grown diamonds. The organization requires strict separation between mined stones and synthetic stones. This policy aims to safeguard the prosperity of the natural diamond economy.
I’m sorry, but we cannot stand behind selling a synthetic-diamond engagement ring for $5,000 when, after the buyer leaves the store, it may be worth little more than the gold it contains, just a few hundred dollars. I want Rapaport to become something like the Bloomberg of diamonds: the trusted, transparent hub professionals turn to for pricing, inventory, deal-making and market intelligence, all in one place. Everything we build is in service of making that economy more efficient, transparent and fair, for retailers most of all.
